Braveheart Barley!

Here is Barley, what a lucky dog he is having such wonderful scenery to enjoy daily.

Top Dog!

Finn's owners sent me this photo of him having an afternoon nap!

Breed Split?

It appears that in some countries some breeders would like the breed split based on coat type but the registrations to remain open so that breeding between the two can continue. I am assuming that any pups would then be registered based on thickness of coat, ie Irish coat as opposed to heavy coat. How this would work in detail I am not sure but would welcome anyone getting in touch or leaving a message with an explanation. Who would decide which category pups would be registered in? What happens if mistakes are made as it is not always simple to tell which type of coat a baby pup will have when it matures?

Manchester Championship Show

I am a little remiss in forgetting to mention that Kim (Keridown Breakthrough for Noxa) was Best Bitch at the Manchester show recently and that the father of our latest litter, Ch Fantasa Blonde Fagin was Best of Breed under breed specialist, Mrs Jean Wright (Abbeymead) - a belated congratulations.

Puppy Video

Here are two short videos of some recently born baby puppies. They appear a bit dark in these videos, so have added a still photo too.

Playing Rough

This link takes you to You Tube and a short video of a wheaten puppy in typical play mode - getting rough with its older, patient brother (although I think he is having just as much fun as the puppy).

'Model' Katie

Here is a photo of Katie, Keridown Love in the Mist modelling a gorgeous dog bed, doesn't she suit it? The photo is courtesy of www.petplanet.co.uk and I am actually swithering whether to get one for my dogs....mmm.... I have to say I love it, much nicer to look at than the usual dog beds.

Puppies Expected

Our Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier, Ruby, will be having pups towards the end of this month - we are so looking forward to this at it will be her first litter. She has the most fantastic personality, a real lady. It will also be the first litter for the sire of her pups, a beautiful champion dog who lives in the North of England. I must get some photos of both the parents on the blog as soon as I can get round to it.

Also Ruby's brother has just become sire of a litter born in Staffordshire, pleased to hear that all pups are strong and healthy. Will put photos of the pups on here too when we receive them.

For more information see our website at www.keridown.co.uk

Update 1st November
Actually found a photograph of the sire of the litter, Ch Fantasa Blonde Fagin.

Ruby has been mated

Will we/won't we..........well. yes we did! As I prefer to have summer litters we dithered about whether to mate Ruby or not because of the time of year the pups would be born. As she did not oblige us by coming into season at a more convenient time, we decided to breed from her. The pups should be born around mid-October, ready to go to their forever homes around mid-December - not an ideal time of year.

I keep meaning to post a photo of her on this blog, must get around to it soon.

Our Irish/Swedish Girl

I am happy to introduce our Irish/Swedish girl, the photo was taken at the weekend after a bit of a tidy up. Not the best photo but it is difficult when she wags her tail as you have no idea what position it will be in on the still photo. She is 18 months in this photo. Don't believe it if anyone says the Irish coats are easier to deal with than the heavier type, I find the finer coat needs to be groomed much more often.

Crufts 2008

I came across some photos of Crufts 2008 and thought it would be an idea to publish a photograph Robert took of the BOB. He is Am Ch Caraway Celebrate Life, pet name Kovu. Isn't he impressive? He flew in from the USA to compete at Crufts. not only was he Best of Breed but he made history by becoming the first wheaten terrier to top the whole terrier group. I just love this photograph - he is stunning.

Looks Like an Angel

Tracey sent a photo of Kim today, doesn't she look like an angel. I thought her very pretty and feminine in this.

Kim wins the Terrier Group

Tracey's Kim won the Terrier Group at her local Crewe Canine Society Show last weekend. She also won the Terrier Group at a Premier show recently although I don't all the information yet. Will publish a photo taken on the day soon.

Bo wins BIS

It has been a long time since I thought about the blog but today I heard from Oksana in Russia that her Bo, Ch Modny Style Bravo Boy won BIS. Details will be on her own website but I thought as Oban, Keridown Gael Force was the sire, I would brag about it here also.

More about Molly

Visited Molly yesterday, she looked beautiful, really fit and healthy with the most gorgeous, shiny, silky coat. She is getting quite big as her pups are due around 10th February. She has her new, posh whelping box all ready. She is to have her own personal midwife in that Ann's daughter in law is a qualified midwife and has volunteered to deliver the pups.

News from Canada

Better late than never they say..... Waverleyglen's Tam O'Shanter was Best in Show in Canada, 2006. His dam is Jamie, Keridown Parting Kiss & his sire is Crash, Keepsake's Terminal Velocity. Jamie lives with Janice and Bill Cunningham in Ontario. I am sure this is the first time a wheaten has been Best In Show at a championship show in Canada.

Photo of his sire can be seen on www.kismet.net/keepsake/crash.htm

Darlington Championship Dog Show 2007

As Robert was the judge at this show last year, I thought a photograph of his Best of Breed should be added to this blog. Here she is, Ginny, Kazeen Hot Deception at Amaricy. She looks to be a moderate, feminine, pretty bitch with a nice coat and balance. I am sure she will get her other two challenge certificates in the near future (depending on how the judges do their job!).

News from Sweden

Oban (Keridown Gael Force) hasn’t been shown that much this year but even so has managed to produce 6 BOB and 3 BOS. No group-placements this year. Most important though is his progeny groups. We have participated about 10 times and he has won every time. His group has also been BIS1: 5 times!! His group has been represented by dogs out of all his litters in Sweden. Dogs out of all his litters, including big winners in Russia, have taken CC/CACs. What a producer!! He is also in the lead of the list of Progeny Groups of the Year as well as second top winning wheaten dog.

Bo is an International Champion

Modny Style Bravo Boy in Russia (by Keridown Gael Force) got his international champion title in 2007. What a lovely shiny, wavy coat this boy has....I just love him, wish he was mine!
